Rel in Time Magazine: Reliance Industries hits global markets, joins prestigious TIME list

Reliance Industries in TIME Magazine List: Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is the richest man in India and the richest man in Asia. Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been named among the TIME’s 100 most influential companies in the world. Reliance Industries has been named in TIME’s list of 100 most influential companies of 2024 under the ‘Titans’ category.

Reliance Industries is the only company to achieve the status for the second time

This is the second time that the revolutionary business practices of the Reliance Group have been recognised by TIME. Jio Platforms was included in the initial TIME 100 most influential companies list of the year 2021. In this way, by entering the top 100 list in the current year, Reliance Industries has achieved the unique distinction of being the only Indian company to win this recognition twice.

TIME considers Reliance Industries as the strength of India.

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been named among the world’s 100 most influential companies by TIME magazine. TIME has also mentioned PM Modi while describing Reliance Industries as India’s strength.

TIME wrote about Reliance Industries.

Reliance Industries was founded 58 years ago by Dhirubhai Ambani as a textile and polyester company. Today, this huge group has aligned its development with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar’ India. It is the country’s most valuable company with a market capitalisation of over $200 billion. Now led by Dhirubhai Ambani’s son Mukesh, the Mumbai-based company has other areas including energy, retail and telecom. It has made its chairman the richest man in Asia.
In February, Reliance came out on top in the fiercely competitive race to dominate India’s burgeoning streaming market by striking an $8.5 -billion merger deal with Disney’s Indian business. The deal brings together more than 100 television channels and gives the joint group a roughly 31 percent share of India’s streaming market, compared with rivals Netflix and Amazon Prime, according to analytics firm comScore.

Tata Group’s name from India has also been included in the TIME list.

Apart from Reliance Industries, the Tata Group from India has also been included in the prestigious list of TIME and considered among the 100 most influential companies. Tata Group has also been ranked in the list of 100 most influential companies in the world under the Titans category.

TIME wrote with the picture and praise of N Chandrasekaran of the Tata Group:

The Tata Group, founded in 1868, had long ago cemented its place in India’s economy. Its vast portfolio spanned steel, software, watches, marine cables and chemicals to salt, cereals, air conditioners, fashion and hotels. But competitors have aggressively promoted new businesses, so it has struggled to stay competitive. In 2017, after more than a century of family management, N Chandrasekaran took over as chairman of the Tata Group despite having no personal ties to the family – highly unusual when India’s business outlook is governed by family succession plans.

N Chandrasekaran, as chairman of the Tata Group, has transformed the entire group by investing in tech manufacturing, AI and semiconductor chips. In the year 2023, it is also building another plant along with becoming the first Indian company to assemble iPhone. In September, Tata announced a partnership with Nvidia to develop AI Cloud in India. This year, it announced plans for the country’s first major semiconductor manufacturing facility. Tata’s joint market capitalization has reached $365 billion in February 2024. This is more than the entire economy of India’s neighbour and rival, Pakistan.

The Serum Institute has also found a place in the TIME list.

Another Indian company Serum Institute of India has also been included in the list. It has been included in the ‘Pioneers’ category. “As the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, it is not new for Serum to produce billions of vaccines. It makes 3.5 billion doses each year, including for measles, polio and, more recently, HPV.
